Detour on train ride back!
The English camp as now ended and it is time to head back to Krakow for rest. Our train lives Gryfow in the a.m. and I am exhausted but ready to head back. On the way home, we take a detour which mom and I are famous for! There is an English teacher in a place called Wroclaw, Poland that my mom has been in contact with and wanted to meet. So, we meet her at the train station and she wanted to show us around her city. She also had the opportunity to talk with my mom and Ligia about what she does. She is an extremely nice and fun lady. We got there around lunch time and let me tell you Hunter and I were ready for a change in food. I was sick and tired of ham, cheese, tomatoes, bread, and cucumbers. I love this food but when you have had it every morning and every evening it gets old. Hunter and I were ready for something totally different and we were so excited to go to KFC! This KFC even had a new make-over here in the last week....they received an ice maker and a fountain drink dispenser. This is the first place, ever, that I have seen in any place I have been in Europe to have a fountain drink dispenser for customers to get free refills. Europe just doesn't do free refills and don't do lots of ice in drinks. I was amazed. It was a new experience! After lunch, we had the opportunity to walk around the city center and then down the river to the cathedral.
Wroclaw, Poland is a huge city of about 630,000 people. The fact that I found amazing was that this city has 117 bridges with 5 different rivers running through it. This city was almost completely destroyed during WWII, but they have been able to restore most of them like they once were.
